It's been over a year since the last journal entry now. I'm in college and haven't been doing as much art, which is weird given that I'm aiming for a studio art minor. Anyway, what art that I do make tends to be smaller, sketchier sorts of pieces. Some of it goes up on my tumblr blog, coolcurrybooks.
I'm cleaning out my gallery! This entire account is way too full of things I made at fourteen has very little of what I've been doing recently. Also, I'm trying to link all my different online accounts together, and I'd rather not have some of that older work sitting in my main gallery.
Instead of deleting the art, it's going into scraps. Not everything is going, but a lot of it. Over half of my photo manipulations have already been moved to scraps.
On the bright side, I'll be trying to get some of the more recent (and better) art on here.
I haven't been posting that much on here. There's two real reasons for this. The first is that I haven't been making as much art - hopefully that will change now that summer's here. The second, honestly, I let things pile up before I photograph them. I'm trying to get better about making WIP shots, updating, and such. Partly because of this, I've decided to make a blog to post artwork on.
I created a Tumblr account just for artwork - www.coolcurryart.tumblr.com I'll post WIP, sketches, and full works there.
I also created a wordpress blog for art and book reviews - www.theillustratedpage.wordpress.com Book reviews also tend towards reviewing the cover. Hey, what can I say. I like cover art.
Do any of you have art blogs I should know about? Or does anyone know some awesome art blogs to follow? I'm still really new to both sites.
I haven't been able to give one of these since my premium membership expired. But I've been wanting to - particularly after a friend claimed that all the good artwork had left DeviantArt for Tumblr. So here's some amazing artwork and artists on DA!
bluefooted is an amazing artist with her own unique style. She's just begun to become more active on DA again, so go check out her work!
puimun is probably my favorite watercolor artist out there. Her artwork is just so magical!

If you or anyone you know entered the America Library of Poetry's student contest, you should be aware that it's a scam. They are just trying to extract money from you. They send out flyers to elementary through high schools. Then they send all the entrants a letter saying that you have been one of the chosen few to be included in a poetry collection (this year they are calling it Discovered). You must pay them $32 for a copy of the book. The book is apparently a crowded collection of everyone who pays for a copy. It's marketed to the entrants and their relatives. Oh, and they send you the letter about this before they've actually judged the poetry. You can bet that if you didn't pay them, you're not going to "win". The website is here - www.libraryofpoetry.com/
Please, I think this is something the DA community should know about, but I don't know who to get in touch with to spread this to a wider audience. Could anyone help me out with this? I want to get the word out before people send in their money.
